Kira Gramitzky, Visitor

Kira is a PhD student at the Fraunhofer Institute for Energy Economics and Energy System Technology (Fraunhofer IEE) and the University of Kassel in Germany. She is supported by a scholarship from the Heinrich Böll Foundation. She holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in meteorology from the Free University of Berlin. From February to May 2025, she was a visiting researcher in Julie K. Lundquist’s research group at Johns Hopkins University. Her doctoral research focuses on long-range scanning lidars for wind resource and site assessment. Specifically, she is testing and improving calibration procedures for onshore and offshore measurement campaigns, with the aim of reducing measurement uncertainty and enhancing the application of scanning lidars in wind energy research. In her free time, she enjoys spending time outdoors, rowing, biking, and playing the flute.
